For the better part of this year, I’ve been working on putting a book together. The concept is simple: pair my writing with original art from some of the best artists online to create something that I can call my own, and something that you — as readers, fans and peers — can enjoy.
The list of artists include: Mike McGrath and Nicholas Kastner of Double Scribble, J.O. Applegate of Bouncex3.com, Maddison Bond, Nathan McKee, Dmitry Samarov, Tessa Chong and more.
The topics I’m writing about will include: my own high school basketball career, Jeremy Lin, Vince Carter, John Strickland, Gregg Popovich, NMA Animation, my favorite sports jerseys, an oral history of Norman Einstein’s and much more.
We’re putting together the finishing touches to the project as it relates to editing, and soon we’ll begin the design phase. After that, I’ll be ready to share pages and such. For now, enjoy some sample art such as the Vince Carter illustration above, and this Dennis Rodman piece.
I’m making this announcement as I’ve set up a mailing list for everyone to subscribe to, for which I will provide updates as the project becomes more of a reality. I promise to everyone who subscribes, you will not be bombarded with emails on a daily basis. It will likely be more of a monthly thing. You can subscribe by clicking here and entering your email.
Another reason, or incentive, to subscribe is that you will have access to the book once it becomes available before anyone else. There will be giveaways and other free things on the way to the book being published, and people I know everyone loves free stuff, you now must subscribe here if you ignored the previous paragraph.
Anyhow, I just wanted those who actually follow the blog and my writing to know about this, as I know several of you have asked about the project.
So here it is. Stay tuned.
And please, share this post, share the mailing list subscription address. I don’t usually ask for favors (except from my parents), but this one would mean a lot.
PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THIS. ALEX IS GOOD PEOPLE AND THOSE ARTISTS HE’S GOT ARE THE BEST.
