The NBA Dribbled Out

Maybe you’re like me and you haven’t watched more than 2 minutes of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London this year. Maybe you can’t afford cable or even the basic package that comes with Time Warner. Maybe you haven’t watched any Olympics except for two minutes of the Argentina game you caught at a random bar. Maybe you secretly hate yourself for being one of those people that doesn’t own a television and reads too much (although, you’ll never turn into one of those people that secretly despise TV-watchers because you want to be a TV-watcher, but you can’t afford it yet). Maybe you are woefully uninformed about the world of sports even as you attempt to write about sports on a semi-professional* level. Maybe you live under a rock like those guys in the Geico commercial, but if you don’t own a television you don’t even get the joke. Maybe you’re an eremite that only reads biblical passages, and you’ve found something in an obscure passage of Revelations that supports the Mayan Calendar claim that this is the FINAL YEAR, so you’re busily arming yourself with random slicings of religious arcana in case there’s a quiz at St. Peter’s Gate.

If so, you’re probably as lame as I am. 

I got back from New England yesterday (camping!), and tried to catch up on all that I had missed with Team USA. The U.S. team that dominated Nigeria, suddenly went cold against Lithuania and inadvertantly provided a blueprint  for other countries to assualt the NBA’s best. After their close call against Lithuania, the U.S. team started flat against Argentina in the first half, and only a blistering second half allowed them to escape with a much-needed 20+ victory (that masks how badly they’re getting killed in the half-court when they don’t force turnovers) and a match-up in the quarterfinals against Australia. 

Also, ‘Melo got knocked in the balls, LeBron James is pretty good and CP3 is expecting.  

All caught up I guess, but I miss TV, like, a lot.

*Blogging is not professional, but I do occassionally get paid (though never for this crap), which is somewhat professional.
