The NBA Dribbled Out
Ain’t gonna lie, this is what I’m most looking forward to this summer: Dr. J on NBA TV during the Finals.
I’ve been reading Terry Pluto’s book on the ABA, Loose Balls, in preparation.
There are a lot of things about Dr. J’s game that would piss off your average analytics blogger that’s memorized the PER of all MVP winners over the last 40 years, and anyone that’s ever caught any of his games on ESPN classic or studied him on YouTube can tell you, the man just could not go left.
But God damn was the Doctor beautiful to watch when he took flight.
Check out this Dime Magazine feature where Julius talks about old school kicks and his era vs. the Dream Team.

This Dr. J photo and the above video of the Doctor’s dunk over Walton are just two other reminders: Julius Irving doesn’t have many equals when it comes to skying towards the rim.
The Onion does strong/weak side for Dr. Julius Winfield Irving II (not an MD, PhD or any doctorate in traditional education, but certainly a doctor of the funk dunk).
If only there were Virginia Squires highlights on YouTube.
Dr. J is going through hard times after being sued. Now you can purchase some of the items he’s put up for auction. Dark days aren’t limited to NBA fans.
