I ONCE CUT MY ARM,
AND THE NBA DRIBBLED OUT
2012-2013 REGULAR SEASON
2011-2012 REGULAR SEASON
(these aren't all basketball specific)
Ricky Rubio had the first—but hopefully not the last—triple-double against the Spurs last night in their 107-83 win against the league-leading Spurs at home. He had 21 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists and came out with a little under 3 minutes remaining and the ‘Wolves ahead by 25. Despite missing Duncan, Parker and Kawhi Leonard, none of whom made the trip, Popovich was conciliatory after the game about Rubio’s getting back to the form that made him so exciting last year:
”’It’s a confidence thing,’ Popovich said. ‘He’s making more moves. He’s pivoting. He’s stopping quickly, starting quickly. You can tell he’s getting back to his form. Which is great, because he’s a great guy to watch.’”
Stephen Jackson was less enthusiastic about Rubio:
”’He’s all right,’ small forward Stephen Jackson said. ‘I’m into winning championships. I’m not into guys averaging 20 and 30 on sorry teams. He’s got some upside, I’ll say that. But it’s all about winning to me, it’s not what you do on your personal stuff.’”
Well, OK then.
Also, can we please come up with something better than Ricky Rubio is a Wizard? How about after every highlight-level pass or move, it’s “Ricky Crossing the Rubicon?” What do you think? Or just Ricky Rubicon. If you don’t know what the Rubicon is, it’s basically past the point of no return.
